Beginners Lessons
Thinking of learning the piano or would like to give your children the gift of music? I can help you get off your feet - teaching the basics of piano technique: posture, position, fingering, pedal work through a fun interactive clear 1-1 process as well as introductions to the basics of music theory and music reading. From here we can move onto ABRSM Grades or tackling your personal goals.

After an initial consultation to get to grips with your present level, we can take on together new challenges, address any bad habits and move forward with your goals whether they are around grades ABRSM, personal performance, or musical understanding.

Improvisation/Composition Coaching and Music Production
One of the great joys but often missed components of the piano is it's efficacy as a tool for personal expression. Although missing the depth of expression within the notes of instruments like the violin or saxophone; the piano outclasses other instruments in it's versatility as it allows the full expression and integration of melody, harmony, and rhythm all at the ends of a single musician's fingertips. This is of course why it is the choice instrument for composition and, alongside the guitar, the choice instrument for the singer songwriter.
Despite this many pianists never develop the skills to improvise or compose for themselves; finishing grade 8, playing sheet music but missing out on the great joy of piano.
Together we can go through the basics of music theory, understand key musical patterns taken from blues, jazz, and pop and begin to recognize the patterns of the piano to help you gain the ability to jam with yourself and others (something that I teach in group at the Jam school I run). I can also help you utilize the Real Book to help you play classic jam staples. This can be moved forward as a compositional project wherein we can work together to record some of your work as I talk you through the basics of recording through Logic Pro, using inputs, effects and balancing audio.
As a student we can choose to focus on this or integrate some composition and improvisation throughout our traditional lessons.
Music Theory Lessons
As you may be aware music theory is a necessity when doing piano grades as the achievement of Grade 5 music theory is needed to progress onto further music grades. I can help you through this milestone and show you how useful the information can be for your practice and any composition or improvisation.
